
Mark Zuckerberg took the stand in court to protect his social media empire from being torn apart, as the company faces the accusation of using their “deep pockets” to buy out businesses rather than innovation.Â
The Retuers further mentioned that the court accused Mark of spending billions of dollar on acquiring Whatsapp and Instagram before they become a significant threat to the company. Rather than spending that money on innovation.Â
Now, the FTC is forcing Mark to sell off his Instagram and WhatsApp division or restructure the company.Â
Wearing a dark suit and a light blue tie, Zuckerberg responded calmly to questions as he aimed to counter allegations that Meta acquired the companies ten years ago to stifle competition in the social media space where people connect with friends and family.
He stressed that connecting with friends and family was just one focus of the app, alongside helping users discover other types of content.

Zuckerberg also pointed out that a 2018 decision to prioritize posts from friends over public content like videos failed to account for a growing trend—users were increasingly sharing such content through private messages rather than posting life updates in their feeds.
