
Mark Read, CEO of British multinational communications advertising company WPP (Wire and Plastic Products) , intends to retire from the company’s top role, effective December 31, 2025. Read will retire after 30 years with the global advertising and communications company, including seven transformative years as the firm’s CEO.Â
Under Read’s leadership, WPP transformed dramatically and emerged as one of the world’s largest modern marketing companies with leading-edge AI and data capabilities. Chairman Philip Jansen praised Read’s leadership during that time and for being a key player in building a simpler, stronger, and more cohesive company with world-class creative talent and widespread global reach.

Looking back on his journey, Read said he was proud of how WPP raised the bar in client relationships, developed greater revenue diversity, gained important industry accolades, such as being Creative Company of the Year at Cannes Lions.
He made important advances in AI and technology such as working across four of the world’s five most valuable companies with AI and technology engagements.
Read will continue in the position through the year, and the board will commence its search for a successor to ensure an orderly transition. Read thanks his team, partners, and board and looks forward to exploring new opportunities after he steps down.
