Vishak Kumar Appointed as CEO of Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Limited

Vishak Kumar has been named Chief Executive Officer of Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands, the fashion retail unit of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. This new role for Kumar proves his useful experience with the company and ABFRL’s policy to support rising talent from within the team.

Kumar, who has been with the Aditya Birla Group for many years, will lead the company with nearly three decades of experience in retail and fashion. Since Madura Garments hired him in 1995, he has helped guide the Group’s retail and apparel businesses. In recent years, he has led multiple companies and been key in building and changing some of India’s well-known fashion brands.

Previously, Kumar was the company’s CEO and Business Head at MFL, the top and key division of ABFRL. Thanks to his management, MFL has grown rapidly, taking Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England to new places. Consumers trust these brands and their market positions in part because Kumar understands the importance of smart business moves and always keeps customers at the heart of his decisions.

Kumar was CEO of Aditya Birla Retail prior to joining MFL and is credited with leading major transformations and preparing the company for future success. Thanks to his solid background in operations, focus on what clients need and commitment to excellence, he has always been a well-regarded leader in the Group.

In 1989, Kumar received a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore in 1996. His education has fit well with his way of leading which mixes logic with respect for others.

He is well known for focusing on building the business and helping young employees become leaders. ABFRL has developed into a creative and empowering environment because of his team-building approach. In 2014, he was given the Chairman’s Outstanding Leader Award and received the Leader of Leaders Award in 2022, two of the most prestigious internal awards at Aditya Birla Group.
