OpenAI is creating an AI-powered hiring platform called the OpenAI Jobs Platform. Designed to link candidates with employers, it has the potential to compete with LinkedIn. The company plans to release it by mid-2026, a spokesperson said.
OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, Fidji Simo, discussed the company’s new AI-powered hiring platform, which helps businesses find suitable candidates. It will feature a tool to assist small businesses and local governments in hiring skilled AI professionals.
OpenAI intends to expand beyond ChatGPT by exploring additional domains. CEO Sam Altman recently announced that Fidji Simo will oversee multiple new initiatives, such as the upcoming Jobs Platform. Additional projects under development may feature a web browser and a social media application.
OpenAI’s new hiring platform could rival LinkedIn, owned by Microsoft and started by Reid Hoffman, an early investor. Recently, LinkedIn added AI tools to improve connections between job seekers and employers.
OpenAI will offer certifications through its OpenAI Academy, which started last year, with a pilot program planned for late 2025.
Many tech leaders worry AI will disrupt traditional jobs. OpenAI’s Fidji Simo admits this risk but states the company aims to help people learn AI skills and connect them with companies needing those talents.
