Nvidia Shares its Plan to 'Make American AI Great Again

On Tuesday, during Washington’s visit, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang arrived with a message for the Trump administration: the US can win the battle of artificial intelligence by collaborating with China’s massive developer base.

Huang said AI chip leader will build seven supercomputers for the US Department of Energy with 550 bookings. He lamented the Chinese government has shut it out of its market. Nvidia is vital to global AI, making worldwide deals amid the U.S.-China trade war that could determine which country’s tech dominates.

Huang stated, “We want America to win the AI race, building on American tech, but we also need to be in China to attract their developers. A policy that causes America to lose half of the AI developers is not beneficial and harms us long-term.”

He mentioned that Nvidia has not applied for U.S. export licenses to send the latest chips to China due to Chinese restrictions, and that he hopes this will change, as China is an important market.

Huang praised Trump for new products: Nvidia AI chips with quantum computers, a telecom deal with Nokia, and self-driving tech with Uber and Stellantis.

Nvidia’s supercomputers for the Energy Department will support nuclear weapons maintenance and energy research, with the largest using 100,000 Nvidia Blackwell chips built with Oracle.

Blake Anderson estimated the ‘Solstice’ supercomputer could hold Nvidia chips worth $3-4 billion, with prices varying depending on discounts.

Nvidia and Nokia target AI communications; Nvidia invests $1 billion for a 9% stake in Nokia and launches Arc, a telecom-focused product line to enhance 6 G base stations.

Nvidia partnered with Palantir to improve logistics and launched Hyperion, a self-driving car platform, working with Uber on robotaxis.

Trump initially limited Nvidia’s AI chips in China but later reversed the ban. Huang emphasises that China’s market is crucial for Nvidia’s research and development, despite the push to purchase domestic chips. Nvidia produces chips in Arizona, assembles servers in Texas, and manufactures networking equipment in California.

Huang’s statement, “We are manufacturing in America again,” is a testament to the potential of the US tech industry. He noted that TSMC will soon bring advanced chip packaging technology to the US, a move that could significantly boost the country’s tech capabilities.
