Beta Technologies has made history by providing air travel for passengers in the Alia CX300. It became the first all-electric aeroplane to take passengers on a commercial flight, flying four passengers earlier this month from East Hampton to John F. Kennedy Airport, a flight of about 130 km (70 nautical miles), which took a little over 30 minutes.
This first electric flight costs around ₹700 (around $8) cheaper than a helicopter flight which might cost more than ₹13,000 ($160) for the same trip. Kyle Clark, chief executive officer of Beta Technologies, stated that the operational cost of electric flights was significantly lower than that of traditional aircraft as well.
The CX300 is a quieter, more comfortable experience for passengers. The CX300 is expected to receive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification before the end of the year. The CX300 will fly roughly 463 km (250 nautical miles) on one battery charge.
