JLR CEO Adrian Mardell Leaves After Facing Backlash for Jaguar Rebranding

The UK based TATA Group owned auto manufacturing company, Jaguar Land Rover’s CEO Adrain Mardell announced his decision to step down as CEO. The 64-year-old, has been working in the company for 35 years and  has served as CEO of JLR from 2022. His successor will be announced in due course.

“Adrian Madrell has announced his decision to step down after 3 years as CEO, and his successor will be announced in due course” the spokesperson of JLR said in the statement.

This comes after higher tariff of US and controversial redesign of brand logo in November 2024.

Adrian Madrell’s Career

Adrain Madrell joined Jaguar Land Rover in 1990 and became Chief Financial Officer in 2019. Madrell took over as interim CEO in 2022 after Thierry Bollore’s departure and was appointed as a CEO in July  2023.

His leadership proves beneficial to the company. In his tenure, the company  posted its highest profit in a decade and reduced USD6.6 billion (5 billion pounds).

Adrian Madrell’s Salary 

The estimated average salary of the Jaguar’s CEO Adrain Madrell’s is 91,792 pounds per year which is equal to 39.83 CR. In Indian rupees.

Jaguar Land Rover

Tata Motors bought JLR in 2008 for US$ 2.3. After the US imposed tariffs in April, JLR stopped exporting vehicles to the USA, and it was resumed in May. The USA is the main market for its high-performance Defender and Range Rover models. JLR has been a key part in the trade negotiation of the UK Government with the USA.

Adrian Madrell’s decision comes amid the brand’s relaunching of electric vehicles.  The company has stopped selling petrol vehicles in England.

Adrian Madrell was among the guests of Donald Trump’s Gulf Course opening in Scotland on Monday and part of the President’s 5-day visit to the UK.

The company will  soon announce its interim or permanent Chief Executive Officer and will focus on its exports of electric vehicles.
