Intel Looking to Collaborate With TSMC as a Last-Ditch Effort

Intel is currently negotiating with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. about a potential collaboration or investment in chip manufacturing, according to sources reported by The Wall Street Journal.Ā

This follows a Bloomberg report indicating that Intel is also in talks with Apple for possible financial support as it manages ongoing operational and market challenges and pressures.

According to WSJ, Intel was already seeking external funding before U.S. President Donald Trump’s involvement last month. The effort gained speed after the U.S. government bought a 10% stake in the company.

However, both companies are denying the report of a partnership.

In the past two months, Nvidia, as well as SoftBank Group, have also invested $5 billion in the company, along with a $5 billion stake.Ā

Under CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Intel is seeking partners to help revive its position after falling behind competitors such as Nvidia and AMD in the AI field.
