“I’d like to die on Mars. Just not on impact.” These are the famous words by one of the most revolutionary personalities of our times, Elon Musk. A man who made EVs fun, Space exploration private, and made Twitter a safe haven for free speech, as it was supposed to be. Elon Musk success story is something that should be taught in school. The way he left his country to go to the land of opportunities is truly exemplary.
Elon Musk success story did not start in the US but in South Africa. He was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. He had a long relationship with science as his father was an electromechanical engineer, while his mother was a South African model and dietician. After completing his schooling, he had to do compulsory military service, which he did not want to do. So, he left for Canada and started attending Queen’s University. Two years later, he transferred to the University of Pennsylvania and earned a dual bachelor’s in physics and economics. This is when the Elon Musk success story truly began.
After earning his bachelor’s, Elon went to Stanford University to pursue a PhD program but dropped out just after 2 days in order to pursue his dreams in technology and space. Then came the next chapter in Elon Musk success story. In 1999, Elon co-founded Zip2, a company that provided online newspapers with maps and business directories. The company was so successful that Compaq Computers bought the company for $300 million.
The next chapter in Elon Musk success story started when, later in the same year, Elon co-founded X.com, which revolutionized payment methods as we know it today. Later, the company was acquired by eBay for a whopping $1.5 billion, birthing the infamous PayPal Mafia. Now, Elon knew that with this money, he could finally do something he had spent his whole life thinking about: EVs and space exploration.
This changed Elon’s life forever, and the next phase of Elon Musk success story was about to embark.
Elon Musk Biography is incomplete without discussing his crown jewels. With the money he got from selling PayPal, Elon started one company and bought another one. He started SpaceX, a space exploration company, and Tesla, an EV company. Tesla might not have been founded by Elon, but he sure made it popular. SpaceX also had a rocky start when most of its rockets were failing. Moreover, Elon’s Idols, like Buzz Aldrin, were against SpaceX. That is when he said, “I don’t ever give up” and changed space exploration by making rockets that can come back to Earth after launching the satellite in orbit.
Elon Musk biography is the embodiment of a never-give-up attitude. He came, he saw, and conquered. Today, he has four billion-dollar companies under his belt, including Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and X (formerly Twitter) and Elon Musk net worth stands firmly at $383.3 billion. From a middle-class man living in South Africa to the richest man in the world, this is Elon Musk success story.
