
Recently, the multi-specialist sports brand Decathlon appointed a native of Madrid, Spain, Javier López, as the CEO to spearhead the growth. He is an industrial engineer and a graduate of Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid.
As CEO, Javier López is tasked with enhancing the company’s competitiveness and growth while intensifying efforts to expand access to sports and uphold its universal values across all regions.
López has been with Decathlon since 1999, taking on various digital, logistics, and retail roles. He led DECATHLON Germany from 2012 to 2015 before becoming CEO of DECATHLON Spain from 2015 to 2022.
Under his leadership, the company experienced significant growth in Spain, leading to his appointment as Global Chief Value Chain Officer in 2022.
