After the tremendous success of its last AI model, DeepSeek, China has launched yet another AI model called Manus. This demonstrates how much the country wants to lead the way in AI development. Created by Chinese startup Monica, Manus aims to compete with the top AI systems created by the likes of OpenAI, Google and Anthropic. The company claims that this is a general-purpose AI that can complete any task on its own without human supervision.
Manus is an advanced AI model that is designed to think, plan, and execute real-world tasks on its own. It can create websites and trip plans and analyse the stock market for you to tell you the best stock to invest in, that too, just from a single user prompt. Unlike standard chatbots, which just give answers to your queries, Manus performs the whole task without any human intervention. For example, if you ask it to write a report on a particular topic, it will conduct the research, draft the report, create charts, and compile everything into the final document, without any human intervention.

Manus, introduced on March 6, has rapidly captured global interest. Its developers claim it surpasses OpenAI’s DeepResearch in performance on the GAIA benchmark, a standard for evaluating AI capabilities. A demonstration video shared by Monica showcases Manus navigating the internet, collecting information, and handling intricate tasks in real-time. It can explore web pages, capture screenshots, track online activity, and create reports, spreadsheets, or presentations. This advanced automation has led many to view it as a significant breakthrough in AI technology.
