
State-owned Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has made its international debut in the rail and metro industry by securing its first overseas contract from Malaysia, worth USD 1 million. This project concerns the retrofitting and reconditioning of the Mass Rapid Transit System, as detailed in a recent stock exchange filing.
The company stated, “We hereby inform that BEML Limited received its maiden overseas contract in the Rail and Metro segment from Malaysia for the Retrofit and Reconditioning of the Mass Rapid Transit System on 09.08.2025, valued at USD 1 million,” as reported by The Economic Times.

BEML is a leading multi-technology company classified as a ‘Schedule A’ entity under the Ministry of Defence, known for its excellent leadership. It significantly supports India’s essential sectors, including defence, rail, power, mining, and construction, by providing top-quality products. BEML functions across three primary divisions: Defence and Aerospace, Mining and Construction, and Rail and Metro.
In another development, BEML recently inaugurated a new, advanced warehousing facility covering 0.12 acres in the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) Aerospace Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bengaluru during early July.
This facility is designed to enhance BEML’s internal logistics and provide warehousing and related services to other OEMs, Tier-1, and Tier-2 suppliers.
Additionally, TuTr Hyperloop Private Limited, a technology startup incubated at IIT Madras, recently partnered with BEML.
