Business Jet Takeover

As highlighted by industry leaders at a newly launched aviation forum in Singapore, the Asia-Pacific business jet market is poised for continued growth. According to Leck Chet Lam of Experia Events, the region’s business aviation sector has already exceeded pre-pandemic levels based on insights from multiple data sources.

Experia is organising the inaugural Business Aviation Asia Forum & Expo (BAAFEx), running from March 4 to 6. This biennial event is hosted at the same venue as the Singapore Airshow, which is set to return in early 2026.

The Asia-Pacific business jet fleet is expanding, and notably, it is growing faster than other regions globally,” says Leck. He attributes this growth to business recovery, increased executive travel, and rising investments in the Asia-Pacific region.

During a BAAFEx presentation, Cirium analyst Lionel Olonga noted that the Asia-Pacific region accounts for only 7% of the global business aircraft fleet. This puts it behind North America (62%), Latin America (15%), and Europe (11%). However, with the exception of Hong Kong, all regional markets are seeing fleet expansion.

Carlos Brana, executive vice president of Civil Aircraft at Dassault Aviation, acknowledges the region’s potential but describes demand—especially in China—as developing gradually. “While we see significant potential in this market, the level of orders has not yet matched our expectations. However, we believe steady growth will occur over time.”

Dassault, showcasing its Falcon 8X at BAAFEx, reports strong interest in pre-owned aircraft, primarily due to their immediate availability. “For business professionals requiring quick access to aircraft, pre-owned jets offer a clear advantage,” Brana adds.

Chris Shindle, marketing director at Boeing Business Jets, highlights a surge in regional business jet departures, increasing from 6,000 per month before the pandemic to approximately 13,000. Boeing, catering to the premium segment, offers business jet versions of airliners like the 737 Max, 787-9, and 777-9.
