Ex- Governor of Reserve bank of India has been elected as an executive director at the IMF (International Monetary Fund) for consecutive three years, as per a statement made by the government on Friday.
In September 2016, he took charge of the RBI governor from Raghuram Rajan and resigned from the post in December 2018, reason being personal.
The resignation is the reason for a long term dispute between the RBI and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
Patel has worked in a wide range of roles, including with international organizations, government, the central bank, consulting firms, and private companies. He has also worked with the IMF in the US, India, the Bahamas, and Myanmar.
