
Google announced it will invest an additional $9 billion in Virginia by 2026 to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure.
The tech giant is also developing a new data centre in Chesterfield County and partnering with local stakeholders to meet growing energy demands through efficiency measures and innovative energy solutions.
As part of its broader commitment to workforce development, Google is launching new initiatives to equip college students in Virginia with in-demand AI skills. As part of a $1 billion nationwide initiative, students throughout the state can now access the Google AI Pro plan and specialised training free for one year.
The University of Virginia, Brightpoint Community College, and Northern Virginia Community College are among the first to join the Google AI for Education Accelerator program.
In addition to college-focused programs, Google is expanding access to AI education for all Virginians through the state’s Virginia Has Jobs initiative. The AI Career Launch Pad offers free, foundational training to help residents develop job-ready skills in emerging technologies.
