Cognizant Sets Guinness World Records with Largest Generative AI Hackathon

With 53,199 participants from 40 countries, Cognizant set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the biggest online generative AI hackathon, producing over 30,000 prototypes in 10 days.

Partner AI tools boosted Cognizant’s Global Vibe Coding Community to over 250,000 members, aligning with its $1B AI investment and Synapse training program.

Cognizant set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the largest online generative AI hackathon, with 53,199 participants across 40 countries over 10 days. An official GUINNESS adjudicator confirmed Cognizant broke the record for largest online AI hackathon, with 30,601 prototypes including HR wellness and marketing compliance tools.

Cognizant’s Vibe Coding Hub, developed within a day, provided associates across departments access to AI tools, tutorials, and masterclasses, fueling collaboration in the record-setting event. Defined by Andrej Karpathy, “vibe coding” uses AI to turn natural language ideas into code, streamlining development and opening software creation to more innovators.

Ravi Kumar S., CEO of Cognizant, stated that vibe coding drives AI innovation company-wide, fostering creativity and client transformation, with key partners helping make the record-breaking event a success.

Sharryn Napier from GitHub lauded the Vibe Coding event for demonstrating Copilot’s impact on accelerating software creation. Lovable’s CEO Anton Osika noted it’s a turning point, inspiring millions to build independently.

Cursor’s Michael Truell emphasized Cognizant’s leadership in AI-powered development, while Windsurf’s Jeff Wang called the event a milestone in accelerating enterprise innovation through inclusive coding tools.
